Right after the slopestyle prelims the pipe prelims stood on the program. As you can probably imagine most of the X-Games contestants were on site to compete at the big pipe finals of the Dew Tour. But if you saw the riders face when they caught sight of the pipe for the first time, they did not really look happy. In comparison to the X-Games pipe, this one was very tiny. That‘s why many riders had some problems with the change of the pipe‘s size and could dial runs as they have planed it.
At the contest the canadians Justin Dorey, Matt Margetts and Mike Riddle could had the fewest problems and gathered the places one, two and three. In Doreys run we could see a right 900, flare, alley oop flat 360, switch 720, alley oop flatspin 540 and left 900. Margetts showed up with a flare, alley oop flatspin 540, 900, right 720, switch 720 and alley oop flatspin 360. Mike Riddle impressed the judges with a big flare, right 900, left 900, alley oop flatpsin 360 to switch 900. So as you can see, all three runs are pretty much the same, but they won‘t care about that! But this is still something which was not often seen yet!
But what about the X-Games heroes?! Peter Olenick and Kevin Rolland could both not make it into the finals. They finished 10th and 11th. As you can imagine they won‘t be happy about that! Another interesting fact is, we did not see any double in the prelims, nobody even tried!
The half-pipe finals will happen on sunday. There we will also see Jossi Wells, Xavier Bertoni and Simon Dumont who are already prequalified!
