It was an event many others will do hard to exceed it! A huge corner session for freeskier and snowboarders happened last weekend in Gerlos which will still stay for a long time in everybody's mind! Accomodation and food for every rider was for free, own sledges which brought them up to the top again, a perfect shaped monster corner and a big cheering crowd are just a few advantages this event had to offer!

Everything started between 11 am and 1 pm with all riders having a common warm up training session. Afterwards in went on with the qualification for the finals in the evening. There 8 ski and 8 snowboard teams consisting of each two persons tried to hit the corner as huge as possible. It wasn‘t enough when just one rider showed a good performance, both had to stick their tricks! For the skiers it didn‘t take too much time everybody went straight over it. As you can may imagine, to hit a corner like this provides you massive airtime!

As the qualification was over it did not mean for all the others who did not make it into the finals the comp was over! No, there was a great best trick and highest air session going on everybody could be part of. In the end it was local Matthias Egger from Austria who could take the 500 Euros home. He showed a super stylish and clean cork 720 truck driver. We could also see some 9s and 10s during the day, but nobody could stomp it at the best trick session.

Meanwhile it was about 7 pm and more and more tourists came to watch the spectacle! With a perfect illuminated corner the riders fought in a best of two run format for the victory. In the end it was again Matthias Egger and his partner Mike Hauser who could win the contest in front of Flo Geyer and Christian Wörndle. The third place went to Bine Zaholar and Dominic Hasibeder.

Then just next to the contest location the afterparty took place. In the legend „Cin Cin„ all riders got many vouchers for free beers. Well, that‘s ok, but it comes even better. Just when the party started to get warm Claudio Blassnig, one of the organizers went to the bar and ordered some bottles of wodka for all the riders and friends. As the amount of riders was not that big and some also had already to leave right after the contest, you can imagine it was a great party! So on, there is nothing more to say, if you haven‘t been there, just hope to be part of the event next year!
