2nd QParks Tour Stop, 23rd January 2016, Snowpark Schöneben, Schöneben at Reschenpass/ Italy
After celebrating a successful contest in Austria, the QParks Tour had its next stop on Saturday at Snowpark Schöneben in South Tyrol on the Italian side. Due to rough weather conditions, the contest setup had to be transferred to the jib-line at relatively short notice. However, lasting winds and freezing temperatures did not keep the shape crew and park designer Moritz Klammer from carrying out their mission – to present the best possible setup. The riders got the chance to prove their skills on a down-rail, a flat-tube and a flat-rail.
The royal battle attracted numerous talents to the Snowpark Schöneben: Freeskiers from four different countries registered for the contest and competed in front of the judges and the spectators for the prize money of 1300€ and goodies from Anon, Neff, Amplifi and QParks.
Freeski checks in Austrian hands
The freeskiers not only had to compete in two qualification runs to get the chance to bag in the prize money and goodies at the consequent finals, but the game was also on to gather important points for the QParks Tour and TSV points as well. In the category Freeski Men the Austrian Fabian Kettner dominated. Michael Tschallener (AUT) followed closely behind in second place with a 450 on – 270 out on the down-rail, which brought him the Best Trick Freeski award. Close behind, on the highly deserved 3rd place stood Sebastian Goller (AUT).
Also the battle between the ladies literally made temperatures rise, when Elisabeth Gram (AUT) was awarded with the first place of the Battle ROJal in the category Freeski Women. Lara Wolf (AUT) and Mona Falkner (AUT) were ranked with the second and third place. Josef Steger (AUT), Elias Wechner (AUT) and David Wolf (AUT) occupied the first three places in the category Groms and could present their checks in front of the camera at the end of the day.
The QParks Tour is already on its way to the next Tour Stop: On January 23, 2016 the Gstaad Mountain Rides Open take place. Until then you will find the latest news and updates at the following links:
