When my family moved to Michigan in the early 2000s, I was blown away by the music scene there. Where I’d lived before, good musicians were hard to come by. In Michigan, it seemed like great musicians were everywhere you looked. You could walk into some no-name backwoods country bar on a Tuesday evening and listen for hours to three guys just jamming the blues, and absolutely shredding. Even in the rural upstate areas, the influence of the Chicago and Detroit scene was obvious.

The music scene is definitely one of the things I remember most fondly about Michigan—that, and the urban skiing. On that note, here’s Mike Hornbeck in the latest installment of Armada’s Joint Efforts series.
