"Handrails clink in the dark hours of the night all over Finland."

Whoa, this one comes by surprise—an immaculately conceived, filmed and edited “neo-noir” night urban skiing short from the depths of Finland. Then again, it’s dark for most of the winter there, so it makes perfect sense too, right? The crashes are brutal (is that guy okay?) but the stomps are triumphant, and will someone please give the lighting guy a high-five? Enjoy this fine piece of work from the brothers Matti and Juho Vesanen at Veli Creative.

“Neo is new and Noir is black. Neo-noir is a filmmaking style which the cult film DRIVE succesfully represents. Slow moving, no bullshit and darkly lit doesn’t sound like a ski movie but the Nordic Hooligans is just that. Nordic Hooligans is a neo-noir urban ski movie. Handrails clink in the dark hours of the night all over Finland.”
