Heritage Italian brand Colmar has been in the outerwear business since 1923, when it began manufacturing gaiters and hats under the name Manifattura Mario Columbo. The company produced the first aerodynamic ski-racing suit for Italian race legend Zeno Colò in the 1950s, and enjoyed a boom of success throughout the ’70s and ’80s with the rise of Alberto Tomba and other Italian stars. Now in its third generation of family ownership, Colmar is known for its high-quality, fashion- and function-minded skiwear—particularly among the alpine crowd.

With the debut of their new Freeski outerwear line for Winter 2018/19, this established brand shows itself ready to move with the spirit of the time, and dive off-piste with a more cosy, comfortable line tailored for the modern snowriding experience.

Colmar - #Unconnect

Colmar’s new Freeski line blends Italian style with forward-thinking outdoor functionality. The outerwear features Teflon Eco-Elite—a flurocarbon-free, eco-friendly water repellent treatment that can resist up to 30 washes—as well as plenty of bells and whistles that freeskiers love, like ski-carry shoulder reinforcement, cam lock zips and helmet-adjustable hoods. A maniacal attention to detail makes each piece unique.

In contrast to the more tailor-fitted Alpine collection, the Freeski line is intended to be “cosy, casual and comfortable”—what Colmar calls the three Cs. You’ll likely find the Freeski collection a bit more roomy than your typical Italian-cut outerwear, while the colorways feature a mix of toned-down grey shades and clean single-color options, as well as the more standard Euro-style bursts of brightness.

Colmar’s outdoor collection includes multi-functional pieces that are completely interchangeable, combining shells and inner layers to meet all of your cold-weather needs. Most of their insulated pieces feature Primaloft Gold interiors to for increased warmth and water repellency.

You can view the new Freeski line, as well as Colmar’s other collections, on their website.
