Get Prepared for the Winter with the Ortovox Avalanche Nights

By: Downdays October 07, 2020

UPDATE 27 OCTOBER 2020 from Ortovox: Due to recent Covid-19 developments, Ortovox has been forced to cancel the Avalanche Nights initiative for the 20/21 season.

Ortovox will still offer a wide range of outdoor safety workshops with their mountain guide partners this winter. The full list of events is available here. These courses all take place outdoors in small groups, and are less likely to be cancelled.

There’s no better way to get ready than the winter than by brushing up on your avalanche knowledge. With Avalanche Nights, the mountain experts from Ortovox are partnering with selected specialist dealers to provide exclusive workshops on avalanche risk management. With the help of partnered mountain guides, these interactive 3-hour courses will train participants in avalanche and snow basics, as well as the right way to plan a tour.

The Avalanche Nights are free of charge and will be held for small groups of up to 25 people on weekday evenings between October 2020 and January 2021 in countries across Europe, with two additional events in Colorado.

To protect all attendees, Ortovox has worked with participating dealers to create a comprehensive hygiene concept. The entire concept has been specially tailored to the current situation, from the number of participants to the venue layout and structure of the content. Every participant will receive a protective pack containing an Ortovox mask and hand sanitizer. Despite all of above the precautionary measures, Ortovox and participating partners reserve the right to cancel individual events at short notice if mandated by regional infection rates or legal requirements.
