Deuter

A heritage name in backpacks has entered the avalanche airbag market

For more than 125 years Deuter has been making high-quality, reliable backpacks and sleeping bags for outdoor adventures. Close collaboration with mountaineers, physicians and athletes guides their product development. These include innovations like the “Aircomfort,” the first patented mesh back system, or the first-ever bike-specific backpack, and its stretchy “Exosphere” sleeping bags. Under its SL label, Deuter also designs women-specific backpacks, tailored to the female anatomy.

Environmental protection and sustainability underpin Deuter’s corporate philosophy. Its “Deuter Promise” is about ensuring responsibility from the start of a product’s life, from using recycled and sustainable materials, to manufacturing high-quality products that are durable, and through to offering a lifelong repair service.

To help honor this pledge to its customers, its employees and to the planet, deuter upholds the strictest standards for environmental protection, occupational safety, and consumer protection. Since 2008, deuter has used the bluesign® system to make its entire production cycle more resource-efficient and more ecological.

Thanks to its conscientious implementation of fair working and manufacturing conditions, Deuter achieved the Fair Wear Foundation’s coveted Leader status for the tenth time in a row in 2022. Deuter attained Grüner Knopf (Green Button) certification, the world’s first state-run mark to establish compliance standards for sustainably produced textiles, launched by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

All of Deuter’s backpacks and sleeping bags have been PFAS free since 2020, to help protect the environment and health.
