camping, crepes and skiing

Zermatt summer session with Scrappy

By: Scott Naismith August 06, 2025

Joey van der Meer, AKA Scrappy Joe Young, made his way out to Zermatt for a weekend with filmmaker Nico Wehrli to capture the vibes and bring you a classic Scrappy cut. Camping, eating crepes and shredding the glacial slush is what summer skiing is all about in Switzerland.

Filming/Editing:  Nico Wehrli

Joey’s words about the trip:

Summer’s in Switzerland are a bit of everything, the weather can change instantly here in the Alps, so to have good weather for a few days in Zermatt is a huge stoke. The idea for this quick 2-day edit came spontaneously, that’s usually how Nico (YungSteinbockie) and I get together to film throughout the winter in Laax. Jiberish has a history of dropping banger, fun, stoked out park edits, so it was all a go when we drove, camped and vibe’d in the Matterhorn Paradise.

I’ve always really liked the appeal of quick fast paced cuts, similar to “Day in the Life” series, and pieces where you get a grasp of someone really enjoying that particular day, or two, and that sums this summer piece up well. Zermatt will always be a special place, especially while the glaciers are still able to provide us with enough snow to slide on. I remember all the older banger pieces from Glacier Paradise, that Sami Ortlieb and Traveling Circus would drop, so I hope this gives some guet vibes like that, and the town itself is so lively and vibrant with people of all cultures coming to see this big rock formation known as the Matterhorn, never will it not seize to amaze. Camping, Crépes, Skiing, Vibes, all sums up Nico and my wochenende in Zmatty.

Nico’s words about the trip:

I really loved the vibe of this trip!

The whole atmosphere in Zermatt was just incredible, the scenery, the energy and the people made it unforgettable

Filming with Joey was definitely one of the highlights, we had such a great flow working together on the shots

Another small but memorable detail was enjoying crêpes after a long day of skiing, the perfect way to warm up and recharge

And camping in minus temperatures was also an amazing experience, adding something truly unique to the trip.
