From growing up in a male-dominated sport to becoming one of the most influential figures in freeskiing, Winter Heroes traces Gu’s path from a determined young girl trying to prove herself against the boys to a confident woman who’s redefined what power and femininity look like on snow. The episode blends unseen footage, personal reflections and raw honesty about the pressures that come with being at the top, and about learning to embrace her own identity along the way.
“Growing into my femininity in a meaningful way was super impactful for me,” Gu says in the film. “You don’t have to look a certain way to be powerful, or compromise how you express yourself, even in a male-dominated space.”
