The Next Chapter of the SKYLINE SNOWPARK Schilthorn Begins

By: Roy Kittler November 23, 2017

Exactly 50 years ago, the Schilthorn peak was first opened for all the winter sports enthusiasts. The building pioneers from back in the day were laying the foundation for the shapers and riders, who will add another action-packed chapter to this longstanding success story this winter. When taking a look at the setup’s brand-new features and the events that are waiting for the freeskiers in the anniversary season 2017/18, it becomes more than clear that the pioneering spirit of those early days is still going strong.

Peaks covered in snow, cold wind and a weather forecast that guarantees plenty of more of the white gold – these are just few of the first signs that make the riders and the shape crew look forward to the coming season at Schilthorn with excitement. This enthusiastic pre-winter mood matches the news from the SKYLINE SNOWPARK perfectly – just carry on reading if you want to find out more.

Permanent Homebase at the Kandahar Lift

After last winter’s success, the SKYLINE SNOWPARK will now be permanently located at the Obere Hubel near the Kandahar chair lift. On a total length of 800 meters you will find a top-notch slopestyle run, which is spread out on three lines and boasts around 40 creative jibs and jumps that make every freeskier’s dreams come true. The new fun line is definitely the coming season’s highlight – jib waves, a funbox, a volcano, a pole jam, a mailbox or flat rails – there are certainly no limits set to the imagination and creativity of the riders!

Park designer Andreas Stoll has already acquainted himself with the terrain, which is located 2400 meters above sea level, last winter. This season, all the riders should be looking forward to loads of surprises and a highly motivated shape crew once again.

A Maximum of Shredilicious Events

Prepare for an action-packed year 2018, because there’ll be plenty of brilliant events. In February, the Acrobag Progression Tour from 21 - 25/02/2018 will make a stop at Schilthorn once again. It’s the perfect opportunity for freeskiers to practice their gnarliest moves on the huge air cushion and their progress is going to pay off as well – all riders have the chance to get their hands of various cool prizes. If you can’t make it in February, you definitely shouldn’t miss out at the end of March, when it’s time for the second edition of the Acrobag Progression Tour. From 28/03 - 02/04/2018, it’s another turn for soft landings and amazing goodies! Especially the rookies among you should certainly mark March 10 and 11 2018 in their calendars – on those dates Cyrill and Jonas Hunziker will be offering all of their knowledge and plenty of helpful tips to you in the course of the Freeski Camp. Just a week later you can already unleash the new moves that you’ve mastered at the camp, during the Oakley Schilthorn Open, the QParks Tour Stop at Schilthorn. Participation is free for all freeskiers – plus, there’s plenty of cash and tour points waiting for the top riders.

Weekly Freeski Coachings with Cyrill Hunziker

If that’s not enough, there’s also a weekly special for freeskiers in the form of free coachings with Cyrill Hunziker, starting every Wednesday at 2 p.m. What’s even more, you don’t have to register - just stop by and join the action!
