Often it is the inner voice that tells us in which direction to go. It intuitively guides us—for us as a company, for our daily actions, for our values. To follow the inner voice is not always the easiest way, but it feels like the right one.

Often it is the inner voice that tells us in which direction to go. It intuitively guides us—for us as a company, for our daily actions, for our values. To follow the inner voice is not always the easiest way, but it feels like the right one.
Since the company was founded in 1980 in the south of Munich, our inner voice has supported us and defined our values. Ortovox has always stood for a sophisticated protection and comfort system for the mountains, characterized by the responsible treatment of people and nature. As a pioneer in the avalanche safety field, Ortovox has played a key role in the development of emergency equipment for mountain sports. Innovative products, but also targeted training measures, are valuable contributions to making mountain sports a little bit safer and to saving lives every day.
Since 1988, mountain sports apparel made with wool has enhanced the Ortovox product range. As wool experts, we have developed a wear comfort system from the first to the third layer that offers the highest functionality, protection and comfort in the mountains through an intelligent combination of natural material with other innovative fibers.
Sustainable management is the hallmark of all of our entrepreneurial endeavors. Commitment to safe and fair working conditions is just as important to this as dedication to the wellbeing of the sheep and the environmentally friendly manufacture of our products.
Ortovox sees itself as both a winter and summer brand. The passion for untouched snow on ski tours or freerides propels the brand on in just the same way as shared experiences when alpine climbing, mountaineering or on alpine tours. Friendship characterizes every interaction at the company – within the team, with customers and with partners and suppliers – in the mountains and in everyday life.
The Ravine Plus 3L jacket is designed for uncompromising backcountry performance. Built with breathable, weatherproof Ravine 3L fabric, it delivers reliable protection in demanding conditions. Merino wool inserts on the jacket’s chest and back add natural warmth and comfort on cold powder days. The jacket features ventilation zippers, a double-adjustable helmet-compatible hood, removable snow skirt, and adjustable hem for a dialed fit.
The Ravine Free 3L Jacket features a streamlined design that’s more lightweight than its bigger brother, the Ravine Plus 3L, while sacrificing little in terms of performance. The insulation isn’t quite as robust in the Free 3L, resulting in a weight reduction of over 100 grams. Otherwise, the level of protection is the same, with an innovative polyamide outer layer that features 51% material recycled from fishing nets.
Built for harsh conditions, high-output activities, and cold, wet weather, the Downwool 270’s innovative insulation blends 70% down with 30% wool, actively managing moisture while delivering reliable warmth—even when damp or during intense sweating. A windproof, water-repellent Pertex® Quantum Pro shell, adjustable hood, cuffs, and hem provide strong weather protection. Recycled wool padding at the sides and underarms ensures freedom of movement, while roomy pockets and a secure chest pocket complete the package.
Ortovox has always had a strong game in the layering department, and the Ravine Metawool 90 Jacket continues that trend. Its innovative 90 g/m2 Metawool filling with 80% wool from German merino sheep will keep you warm on even the coldest days, while the rip-resistant, windproof and 100% recycled polyamide outer material protects against the whims of the weather. This highly functional insulation layer offers an optimal balance between weight and insulation and packs small—making it an ideal companion for demanding freeriders.
