And now for something completely different: last winter Felix Wiemers, Neil Williman and Max Kroneck embarked on a 40-hour train ride to explore the skiing potential of the region around the Russian town of Vorkuta in the northern Ural Mountains. In subzero temperatures above the Arctic Circle, this hardy trio braves the elements to lay ski tracks in the frozen tundra, jibbing around town before heading out into the wild to overnight at an old train carriage that’s been converted into a backcountry hostel.
