The skiing community is in mourning today after the tragic death of Erik Roner, a professional skier, BASE jumper and all-around stuntman, in a skydiving accident in Lake Tahoe, California.
According to tetongravity.com, Roner crashed into a tree while landing during a skydiving exhibition during a charity golf tournament. He was jumping with a group that also included JT Holmes and Aaron McGovern.
Roner was a longtime veteran of the action-sports world whose influence spread across multiple sports. He helped pioneer the sport of ski BASE with Shane McConkey, filmed multiple segments with major film companies, and was even a member of Travis Pastrana’s notorious Nitro Circus crew.
