After months cooped up under stay-at-home orders this spring, the loosening of coronavirus restrictions in May allowed skiers in Italy the first tentative chances to return to the mountains and salvage some of the spring season.

At Klausberg in South Tyrol, a group of riders from the local region gathered for a small, socially-distanced session in the remains of the resort's snowpark. Photographer Stefan Mahlknecht (@stefan_mahl) was on hand to capture the action.

"All of us missed spring skiing this season, especially since we had warm and sunny weather almost every day," reports Stefan. "But in the end the situation changed, and were were able to put together a spring session like never before in South Tyrol."
