Playstreets is back

Red Bull Playstreets is back for 2023

By: Matt Masson November 21, 2022

After a 4-year hiatus, one of the more unique and fun freeski events, Red Bull PlayStreets returns, in  Bad Gastein, Salzburg, Austria!  on the 10th of February 2023, the who’s who of the scene will swap manicured slopestyle courses for features high above the roofs of the world-famous winter sports resort and wow thousands of spectators with their jaw-dropping runs for the 9th time. A completely reworked set-up will take the riders to their limit and bring the crowd even closer to the action, providing an extra thrill to this unique freestyle event. Entry to Red Bull PlayStreets is free, and everyone who can’t enjoy the action on-site can watch all the runs live on Red Bull TV.

On Friday, the 10th of February 2023, the world’s best freeskiers will do what they do best in front of 10,000 spectators who can enjoy the event up close and for free. With its one-of-a-kind urban canyon, the popular winter sports resort in the Austrian state of Salzburg will turn into the “world capital of Slopestyle” and provide the perfect stage for an unrivalled freestyle show. The pictures of former editions of the event have spread far beyond the borders of Austria and have already attracted visitors from far and wide to Gastein Valley.

Here´s what to expect!

New set-up promises mind-blowing Slopestyle action

The course with its kickers, drops and rails leads right through the streets and over the roofs of the winter sports resort. With a completely new set-up, the 9th edition promises a lot of suspense. The new Event Director Bernd Krainbucher together with the agency “Schneestern” has come up with some challenging course changes and impressive obstacles that will certainly test the riders even more and make the already spectacular show even more attractive for the spectators. “As a shaper, scaffolder, and presenter, I have experienced Red Bull PlayStreets from many different angles since the first edition. It’s a huge honor for me to now continue the event together with many people who have significantly shaped and influenced the sport of freeskiing over the last two decades and to build a playground for the stars of the scene. I’m looking forward to a great 9th edition with many innovations, hoping for best conditions in Bad Gastein and many smiling faces on and off the course. The preparations are already in full swing, and we will soon start to build the first parts of the set-up. With the new course layout and some special elements, we aim to deliver an extraordinary 2023 edition to the riders and the spectators,” said Bernd Krainbucher about Red Bull PlayStreets

A whole week of Freeski Action – the side events!

The side program to the event is impressive as well – from the unveiling of the star on the “Wall of Fame” on Wednesday, February 8, followed by a party at Silver Bullet, to the new “Best Trick” session on February 9 and the subsequent traditional bib draw, to numerous side events in the surrounding bars – Red Bull PlayStreets promises a week of “pure Slopestyle” action in Bad Gastein.

Be in the thick of it – or follow the live stream at home!

All those who cannot be present on site as spectators can watch the live stream of the event and get all the information on Red Bull PlayStreets at www.redbullplaystreets.com. On the 10th of February, 2023, there will also be a live broadcast on Red Bull TV and the YouTube Red Bull Snow Channel.
