Tyrolia Debuts Redesigned Attack Binding For 2021/22 Season

By: Downdays April 26, 2021

With close to a hundred years of experience in their craft, the Austrian binding brand Tyrolia has long been trusted by skiers. These days, that includes athletes like Tanner Hall, Phil Casabon, Kim Boberg, Mathilde Gremaud and newly minted team member James Woods, who as of next season, will all be riding on the latest version of the company’s freeski-specific Attack binding.

Oriented towards riders from across the freeski spectrum, from powder-chasing freeriders to dedicated park shredders, the Attack has been around since 2013. The series has undergone a major overhaul for the 2021/2022 season, with design changes in both the toepiece and the heelpiece. In the toe, more defined edges make it easier to clean snow from the bottom of your ski boot, while the AFD (anti-friction device) underfoot has been improved for more stability.

In addition to the design overhaul, the Attack has been updated with new colors for 2021. This is the 17 DIN model in Tyrolia´s signature flash yellow, black and blue. The 14-DIN model includes even more color options like red, white and green.

The heel has been enhanced with a new lever design that allows the DIN release setting to be changed while the binding is in either the open or closed position. This makes for faster, hassle-free adjustment whether in the shop or on the hill.

The weight of the binding has also been cut significantly. The 17-DIN model weighs in at 2190 grams including the brake; that's a nearly 250-gram reduction from this year's Attack2 18 X model at 2430 grams. "All parts have been finely tuned to achieve optimal strength and stability at a lower weight," the company says.

The new Attack comes in 17, 14, 12, and 11-DIN models. All models are GripWalk compatible, while the 14-DIN model also includes a "MN" (Multi Norm) version that's compatible with touring boots.

The new Attack bindings will be available online and in store in Fall 2021.
