Silvretta-Montafon is set to light the fuse on the 2026 Freeride World Tour Challenger season, with the Open Faces Challenger by Orage kicking off on 26 January.

For riders chasing a ticket to the Freeride World Tour, this is where it all starts. Who will stamp their mark and emerge as the new freeride threat? Which ex-tour rider will break back into the fold?

The Challenger Series is the final and most decisive step on the road to the FWT, and Montafon’s Heimspitze is about as serious as it gets. Steep, technical terrain, multiple line options and zero room for error make it a true proving ground. Clean, creative runs will be rewarded, any hesitation will not.

Before the Challenger fires, Montafon also hosts a 3* FWT Junior event on the Zamangspitze face, running back-to-back with the Challenger and setting the tone for the week. While the juniors warm things up, all eyes quickly turn to the Challenger start gate, where the next generation of FWT contenders go head-to-head on one of Europe’s most established freeride venues.

For spectators, Montafon delivers the full experience: live viewing zones, commentary, and DJ-backed atmosphere, ensuring the energy off the hill matches what’s going down on it.

Live stream for the event will be available on the Open Faces Youtube channel.
