Freeride World Tour Season is about to start in Baqueira Beret, Spain on January 15

January 14, 2026

80 cm of fresh snow, the scene is set. The Freeride World Tour starts its 2026 season with the first stop in Spain this Thursday, January 15. Plenty of recent snowfall has enabled the competition to return to the traditional venue in the middle of the Baqueira Beret resort, the north-west face of Tuc de Bacivèr. Expect a great show, both from the riders and from the crowd.

It’s been a tough start to the season for all freeriders but some heavy snowfall around New Year finally set the scene for serious big mountain skiing and snowboarding in many parts of the Alps and the Pyrenees. Just in time for the first stop of the 2026 FWT that was scheduled to start in Spain mid January. The resort of Baqueira Beret has become a staple of the Freeride World Tour and managed to provide some spectacular events in the past with its traditional venue at the peak of Tuc de Bacivèr right in the middle of the resort, offering perfect viewing conditions for an enthusiastic crowd.

Thursday, January 15 has now been confirmed as date of the Baqueira Beret Pro by Movistar event. 80 cm of fresh snow across the resort promise good conditions for the riders although line choice will be a difficult task since the base is still limited following a really slow start into the winter season across Europe. The competition starts at 12:15 CET and live coverage will be available from 12:00 CET. You can follow the event via the official livestream at www.freerideworldtour.com/live. There is live scoring, great commentary and lots of background info about all riders at your fingertips on the FWT website, so be sure to check it out.

We and especially all fans in Baqueira Beret are looking forward to the return of the Tuc de Bacivèr as venue, the first time since 2023. It’s a legendary face with a raving crowd at the bottom that turns the Spanish stop of the Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance into a special one. It’s going to be interesting to see how the riders will use this venue considering the slightly unsettled conditions and the challenges of preparing for a competition season when there is hardly any place with favorable riding conditions on the planet. Judging on last year, however, we predict nobody is going to hold back and we will see another spectacle of bold lines, huge airs and massive tricks. 2,644 m high Tuc de Bacivèr offers 424 vertical meters of varied terrain with an average incline of 40 degrees. Since the starting time is quite late, the sun will grace a good part of the north-western aspect. It’s going to be a show that you don’t want to miss—but in any case, we will break down everything that is going to happen in our event report following the action.
