Everyone was looking forward to a huge celebration for the 10th annual Kimbo Sessions. But the snowpack in Sweden had other plans.
Here’s the sad news, straight from Kim Boberg himself:
“I knew it wasn’t going to be as much snow to work with this year, but at the same time I knew that was gonna open up for some new possibilities and different style of features and I was excited to build more of a skatepark style park this time,” Kim continued. “So the excitement was high and everything was set up for this to be a good one.”
“The week prior to making the decision to cancel they had pushed in a meter extra of snow into the park from the nearby slope to have a pristine park for the Swedish championship so the hope were high and the snow conditions still looked promising at that point, but all that extra snow was gone in just 2 days cause of the heat and rain that hit us. Ive never seen this little snow in Kläppen this early before.
I definitely felt very empty after having to cancel it and after putting in so much work to make it happen, but unfortunately there was nothing we could do to save the park so it is what it is I guess. Big big bummer but I will comeback stronger next spring no doubt about that! Cant wait to put it on again!”
We’re bummed for Kim, who pours all of his energy and intention into making Kimbo Sessions one of the best events in the freeski calendar. At the same time, this setback will only make for a better Kimbo Sessions in 2026 — watch this space!
