There’s been talk this season about how everything from about a decade ago in skiing is coming back again: the clothes, the music, the style, the videos. But we never thought it would come this far—the Dumont himself coming out of retirement to throw down in Park City alongside the Pretzel Man.
If you’re a young’un unfamiliar with these characters, take heed: this is a classic throwback to the late-2000s era of freeskiing; a heady time when gangster rap reigned supreme and tall tees went down to your knees. Chief among the protagonists of the time were Simon Dumont—he of the red-and-white suit, the quarterpipe world record, the halfpipe rivalry with Tanner Hall—and Tom Wallisch, the afterbanging, revolutionary newcomer on the scene.
But if you’re an old freeski head, this edit from Dumont, Wallisch and veteran filmer Drew Lederer needs no further introduction. It’s like 2009 all over again—except these guys are now in their thirties, and still killing it as hard as ever. They even brought out the old clothing kits to turn the nostalgia up to another level. Click play to experience the resurrection.
