Skiing in Whistler and Australia, surfing in Indonesia and Costa Rica — the fun never ends for the lucky few.

For the last four years in a row I have traveled to Central America (Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama) immediately following the conclusion of the West Coast Session at Mount Hood. For one month in May and June I store the skis and go surfing all day, every day for the whole month! Then I return to Mount Hood around June 15th for the beginning of Windell’s summer ski camp at Mount Hood.

This year my sister is getting married June 24th, so I will miss Session One. My signature Session is Session 2 (June 25th-July 3rd) so I will drive from my hometown, Sun Valley, to Mount Hood immediately after the wedding. The timing is perfect because after my signature session is the Fourth of July, America’s funnest holiday. Bend, Oregon is one of the best places to celebrate this holiday, and there are always a ton of skiers and snowboarders from Windell’s that migrate two hours from Hood to Bend to party for the Fourth. Then we go back to Hood for the month of July for the best month of summer skiing.

In between sessions and when the weather is rainy and cloudy, we drive to the Oregon coast to camp and surf! The water is much colder in Oregon, similar to the water in western France, and the surf is not as good as central America, but camping and surfing on the Oregon coast is always a great time! In August I like to go back home to Sun Valley, Idaho to backpack, dirt bike, mountain bike, camp, and look at lines to ski for the upcoming winter!

“Summer will be my holidays, surfing and working with some parties mixed in… but just a couple.”

“Summer is the time to get your energy back after a hectic season and pump up some strength in your body. This summer I’ll focus on gym, cardio and learning new tricks on the trampoline and water ramp. I’ll go skiing in Norway in July and then head to El Colorado, Chile for the Big Air World Cup in late August. I’m super excited, as I’ve never been to South America before!

Other than getting ready for skiing, I’ve started to build a camper out of a VW T5 with my boyfriend, and that will probably be quite a mission as neither of us are super handy. Hopefully it will be done before the summer ends, and then we’ll go on some surf and hike trips with our new van!”
