FWT Calendar announced

The 2024 Freeride World Tour Calendar Includes a New Stop in Georgia

By: Ethan Stone October 15, 2023

The Freeride World Tour has announced its schedule for the 2024 season. The big news for the 17th edition of the Tour is a brand-new stop in the freeride mecca of Georgia.

In its second year under the aegis of FIS, the International Ski Federation, the Freeride World Tour still looks familiar to our eyes. Some legendary athletes, like Reine Barkered and Aymar Navarro, have retired from competition, making space for a new generation of freeride talent like Max Palm, Manon Loschi, Max Hitzig, Justine Dufour-Lapointe and Valentin Rainer to make their mark on the Tour.

Here’s an overview of the 2024 FWT schedule.

For the third time running, the Tour will kick off with back-to-back stops in the Pyrenees. The Baquiera Beret Pro opens the season with a window from January 27–February 1, followed immediately by the Ordino Arcalís Pro from February 1–7, 2024. With fired-up local crowds and interesting terrain, the Pyrenean stops never fail to deliver a show—even when the snow conditions are often a challenge.

From February 14–20 the tour heads across the Atlantic for its sole North American stop, the Kicking Horse Golden BC Pro. A tour venue since 2018, Kicking Horse offers competitors a taste of that Canadian white gold which can usually be found in abundance, as well as an extreme venue in the daunting Ozone face.

Next up is the new tour stop, the Georgia Pro from March 1–7, 2024. After hosting FWT Qualifier events for the past two seasons, this country in the Caucasus is now ready for the big show. With huge terrain and ample snowfall, Europe’s answer to Alaska makes for an extremely interesting, and hopefully long-term, addition to the FWT calendar.

The two-stop FWT Final concludes as usual with the Fieberbrunn Pro in Austria (March 12–18) and the Xtreme Verbier in Switzerland (March 23–31). Last season's exciting showdown in Fieberbrunn was followed by the first-ever cancellation of the Xtreme Verbier, so the tour will surely be out for redemption at its historic home venue.

The 2023 stop in Fieberbrunn saw former FWT champion Arianna Tricomi return not only to competition, but to the top of the podium. Will we see Ari show up again on the Tour this winter? Photo: FWT/Bernard
