GoPro is giving away $120,000 this winter with the Line Of The Winter Video Contest

By: Ethan Stone February 09, 2024

There’s no greater feeling than riding an absolutely incredible line and capturing it all on your GoPro. Well, maybe there’s one better feeling: doing that, and then getting paid $10,000 for it. That’s exactly what’s on offer in the GoPro Line Of The Winter video contest.

In January GoPro announced the contest, inviting skiers and snowboarders from around the world to submit their best single clips (captured with a GoPro, of course) to compete for cash awards totaling $120,000 and the opportunity to be featured on GoPro’s social channels.

Each submission has to be a single, unedited clip—no cutting room tricks here—and captured by the skier or snowboarder themselves. To be eligible, the clip needs to be shared on social media using the hashtag #GoProLineOfTheWinter, and also needs to be submitted to GoPro Awards using the GoPro Quick app or at GoPro.com/Awards. You can submit as many videos as you like, with each video counting as one entry.

In the hands of inspired athletes, GoPros have captured some of the most insane ski and snowboard lines we’ve ever seen. With the GoPro Line Of The Winter Challenge, we’re giving skiers and snowboarders the chance to share their awesomeness with the world and earn cash awards from GoPro that can help them pursue their passions further.

A judging panel of GoPro-sponsored snow athletes—including snowboarders like Sage Kotsenburg and Jamie Anderson and skiers Tom Wallisch, Hedvig Wessel and Kai Jones—will judge the submissions. Their criteria: athletic performance, video-capture quality and overall “wow factor.”

From January until April, $10,000 will be awarded monthly to one skier and one snowboarder for that month’s best ski and snowboard lines. That total runs to $80,000 given out over four months. In May, one skier and one snowboarder will be announces as winners of the GoPro Line of the Winter, and each will be rewarded with a $20,000 prize.

Participants can submit videos captured on any generation of GoPro. However, you’re probably more likely to win using something like the new HERO12 than with, for example, the GoPro 3 that’s currently collecting dust at the back of my shelf.

Submissions to the Line Of The Winter contest will be accepted until 11:59 Pacific time on 30 April 2024. For more information about the contest and video clip requirements for eligibility, visit GoPro Awards.
