From 23-25 March 2018 it was that time again: the sixth edition of Back on Track returned to the stage with conditions that couldn’t have been better.
Friday started dimly, with light snowfall and a few degrees below zero. After the ride up with the Vermuntbahn and the tunnel buss, most of the event participants made themselves cozy in the Saarbrücker Hütte. A few riders ventured out into the terrain to conjure the first powder turns in the fresh snow, while the others enjoyed a beer or three in the mellow atmosphere of the hut.

At 7:00AM on Saturday it was time to head out. The destination was the Winterberg, which once again had been selected as the contest face. After all the photographers, filmers, rescue personnel and guides had found their posts, the venue was opened. Notwithstanding a few brief interruptions, the contest went down quickly in about two hours. Excitement was written in the riders’ faces as they dropped into their lines under sunny skies and with perfect powder. In the afternoon, most riders continued to explore the surrounding terrain and make full use of the day until the very last rays of sun disappeared from the peaks. After a delicious dinner, it was time for the riders’ judging to begin. The party lasted until late in the evening, and the mood was simply indescribable. On Sunday, more great conditions awaited, and more than a few powder runs were bagged to round things off.
Once again it was a hell of a time, and perhaps the best Back on Track yet. The whole team thanks all the participants, helpers, Bergrettung Partenen, and mountain guides Lukas Kühlechner and Gerold Dünser, as well as the whole hut crew around Stefan Schöpf.
A huge thanks as well to our longtime partners and sponsors who make this event possible: Intersport Montafon, Arcteryx, Montafon Tourismus, Silvretta Bielerhöhe, Black Crows, Jones Snowboard, Pieps, Contour, DirtyDog, Raiffeisenbank im Montafon, Rhomberg, Bergführer Montafon, Saarbrücker Hütte
