It takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears to fight your way to the top of the international contest circuit. Now Swiss freeskier Giulia Tanno is sharing her path, with both the highlights and the lowlights, in a new webisode series called “The Journey.”

Episode 1 is out now, and follows Giulia through her process of learning the double cork 1080 that she first debuted in 2017. It’s half glory, half gore, with just as many brutal crashes as contest medals — showing that the contest game, after all, isn’t all fun and games. Enjoy this insightful look behind the scenes of a working pro.

What does it mean to be a freeskier today?
