Last March Nikolai Schirmer headed to Mondalen, Norway to visit Norwegian skiing legend Asbjørn Eggebœ Næss on his home turf. Asbjørn may not exactly be a household name, but he’s got a long history in freeride with well-known segments in Free Radicals and Field Productions films. Along with photographer Mattias Fredriksson and video journalist Tim Myers, the team holed up in a remote hut in the high alpine. There, they weathered a snowstorm before emerging to ski some of the fine lines in the vicinity. Along the way, Nikolai employed his growing talent as a storyteller to delve more deeply into Asbjørn’s path as a pro skier turned family man.
