The Vallée Blanche is one of the world’s most well-known ski descents. This nearly 3,000-meter vertical journey from the top of the Aguille du Midi back down to Chamonix along the Glacier du Tacul is on many a skier’s “life goals” list — so much so that the locals reportedly consider this classic route to be somewhat pedestrian in comparison to the valley’s wide variety of other, more butt-puckering options.

Leave it to Sam Favret to provide a fresh take on the Vallée Blanche. In “The Classic Route” the creative French rider and his filmers take us along on a visual journey all the way from the soaring ice pinnacles of the glaciers above, to the tight forests below, with plenty of his own unique style mixed in. It’s one of the most well-crafted and unique looks yet at this famous route. It might just motivate you to finally check off that box on the “life goals” list — though we don’t recommend jumping in front of the train while doing so.
