FWT Georgia Pro is cancelled

February 20, 2026

Today, February 20, the Freeride World Tour organization announced that the Georgia Pro event, scheduled to take place next week at the resort of Tetnuldi near Mestia in the Great Caucasus mountains, had to be cancelled due to complicated snow conditions. According to FWT, the event organizers tried their best to find a suitable venue, but a generally unstable snow pack and—according to the weather forecast—no hope that conditions may change over the course of next week prompted the FWT organization to call this season’s third tour stop off early.

The press release stated it wasn’t an easy decision to make since there were only four events scheduled on the 2026 Freeride World Tour before the cut ahead of the two final events, the much anticipated tour stop in Haines, Alaska and the traditional Xtreme Verbier. With one of these four events now cancelled, a cut based on only three events with the two best results counting seems somewhat arbitrary. Consequently, the FWT is evaluating the possibilities to reschedule a fourth tour stop around the event window for the Fieberbrunn Pro (5-10 March). Whether that would mean two competitions happening in Fieberbrunn—there are two tried and tested venues in the Austrian resort with the Wildseeloder and the Marokka—or another spot as replacement for Tetnuldi, wasn’t disclosed.

It’s likely that a tight schedule for this season including the first official Freeride World Championships and the current snowfalls in the Alps played a role in the decision making. Instead of sitting out the event window in Georgia far away from the Alps, FWT officials now have the chance to check out options amid ongoing storm cycles in the Alps, which had seen a notoriously dangerous snowpark for much of the season, too. We are curious what the beginning of March will bring for the 2026 Freeride World Tour and will keep you updated. Stay tuned!
