why don't more people ski here?

The Draconians | Nikolai Schirmer and Sam Favret in Norway

By: Adam Herman January 16, 2024

Nikolai Schirmer and Sam Favret are no strangers to filming big mountain lines. This time Sam, the Chamonix local, visited Niko in his home country of Norway and travelled up north to the island of Senja, where Alaska-esque faces meet the fjords of the Atlantic ocean. If this place wasn’t on your bucket list, it sure will be after watching this beautifully shot documentary about the two freeski legends.

Directed by Maxime Moulin, it’s not your typical ski-porn flick. Lot of the screentime is dedicated to the uphill and behind the scenes providing context to the heavy (heavy!) lines and absolutely breathtaking scenery. Grab your favorite drink and enjoy the High Five short movie of the year . Thanks boys!

From YouTube:

Sam Favret joined Nikolai Schirmer at his home in the far north in Norway, to discover the secrets of narrow couloirs descended at full throttle, slopes that plunge straight down to the sea and days that push back the nights.
