In the days of social media’s constant bombardment of content, it’s reassuring, even nostalgic, that skiers still get hyped when Christmas comes a couple of months early and the ski-movie trailers drop. We get to see what the pros have been working on last winter, or even longer in some cases.

You might be loyal to certain skiers, or you might be open to new crews and experiences. Whatever you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it here in the Downdays Trailer Yard.

Anywhere From Here | Matchstick Productions

Release: October 2022 | Matchstickpro.com

What they say:Matchstick Productions 2022 ski film explores this world of opportunities through the eyes of a 12-year-old freestyle phenomenon. Through his voice, the audience hears the skiing aspirations of such a 12-year-old, a kid who just wants to play and doesn't have to ponder 'real life' quite yet.”

what we say: As usual MSP brings top-of-the-range production values, showcasing some of the very best on crazy spines, pillows and a dash of park. With some of the best to ever do it in their roster, expect a great movie.

Something In The Water | Level 1/Brady Perron

Release: Fall 2022 | level1productions.com

Featuring: Jake Mageau

What they say: “As their follow up to last year's 'Freehand,' Jake Mageau and Level 1 proudly present 'Something In The Water,' a short film directed by Brady Perron.”

what we say: Brady’s vision behind a camera is as unique as Jake’s is on his skis. Level 1 knew they hit the jackpot when they paired these two together last year. The trailer looks like they’ve done it again, with some entertaining art!

Drøm | Keep the LINE/Line Skis

Release: dropping online in mid-December | lineskis.com

Featuring: Lalo Rambaud, Jade Michaud, Marius Dunoyer, Quentin Ladame, Romain Lambert, Tim Baud

What they say: Come aboard Keep The LINE's ship to discover the incredible journey of Jade, Lalo, Quentin, Romain, Tim, and Marius as they search for the FRILUFTSLIV (The Norwegian love for the outdoors). DRØM showcases a unique adventure where the Keep The LINE Crew learns to embrace a new culture amongst breathtaking scenery and ski as they like it: Fast and Wild.”

what we say: Line’s riders and videos are known for their fun, creative approach, and ‘Drøm’ looks to continue keeping it “more funner.”

In Your Dreams | Level 1/Laura Obermeyer

Release: Fall 2022 | level1productions.com

Featuring: Anna Tedesco, Kellyn Wilson, Skye Clarke, Mckenna Brown, Shondra Charbonneau, Cat Agnew, Tereza Korabova, Rosina Friedel, and Alice Michel.

What they say: “In Your Dreams is a new-age ski film by Laura Obermeyer and friends, with locations spanning across North America and Europe, ranging from the streets of Minnesota to the Austrian backcountry. It is a gender expansive production, creating representation for women and other marginalized genders in the snow sports community, both in front of the lens and behind it.”

what we say: Level 1’s second offering is more traditional, only it’s a bigger group of skiers. This short trailer shows the ladies hitting all kinds of different spots and hopefully, the movie will achieve its goal of showcasing what the “marginalized genders” can do when given a chance to shine.

Enjoying all types of environments around the world. 60% of his movie will be highlighting the performance and 40% will be about knowing more about what is behind the Athletes.”

what we say: The follow-up to SKIVAS with an almost completely new group of athletes. Some big names join the crew, and all types of freeskiing, from park to street to big mountain, are on display in the trailer.

Magic Hour | Teton Gravity Research

For 27 years, Teton Gravity Research has been searching for the right place with the right crew at the perfect time to experience life at its fullest. Between the thrill of the hunt and the peace of floating down a mountain, the sum of our experiences becoming greater than its parts is what we seek. If you ask us, our annual snow film Magic Hour is just that.”

what we say: TGR is another of the traditional production powerhouses. Some of the biggest names in both skiing and snowboarding combine to do exactly what these movies are designed to do: get you stoked for winter.

Chameleon | Deviate Films

Release: Mid-November 2022 | @deviate.films

Featuring: Torin Yater-Wallace, Quinn Wolferman, Kim Boberg, Cody LaPlante, Cody Wilderay and friends.

What they say: "A ski film collective started by Torin Yater-Wallace and Jossi Wells in 2019, Deviate Films brings you their third movie ‘CHAMELEON.’ With Jossi on the bench this season due to an injury, Torin connected with new faces in Minnesota, Montana, British Columbia and Sweden."

what we say: This looks kind of like an Armada team movie, and that is definitely not a bad thing!

Tracing Influence | Switchback Entertainment

Release: December 6 2022 | www.switchbackentertainment.com

Featuring: Cody Townsend, Mark Abma, Alexi Godbout, Emma Patterson, Fabien Maierhofer, Victor Galuchot, Gaetan Gaudissard, Mali Noyes, Philou Poirier, Phil Langevin, Robert Aaring, Connor Ryan, Jonclay Patterson, Andrea Krejci

What they say: The power of heroes and mentors cannot be overstated when it comes to shaping young people's lives. Nobody reaches the top tier of any professional sport without standing on the shoulders of those who came before them. 'Tracing Influence' connects with 6 skiers and the people who changed their lives.”

what we say: An interesting concept that I’m sure resonates with almost anyone who watches these movies. Some true legends are in this movie. Essential viewing for any freeskier who wants to know how we got to where we are now.

Yours Truly | CK9 Studios

Release: Fall 2022 www.ck9studios.com

Featuring: Cole Richardson

What they say:  "Swapping the pen for the lens, this is a visual letter recapping a winter with pro skier Cole Richardson. Filmed purely in the heart of B.C. backcountry, this short film captures the hunt for powder, pillows, lines, and backcountry booters through the juxtaposition of fast, real lifestyle and slow, beautiful action."

what we say: There is no story to "Yours Truly," but if this short film is just an extended version of Cole going huge in the backcountry, I, for one, will not be complaining.

Feel Real | Blank Collective

Release: World premiere November 22 on Youtube | blankcollectivefilms.com

Featuring: Stan Rey, Alexi Godbout, Anna Segal, Chris Rubens, Alex Armstrong, Josh Daiek, Dane Tudor, ABM, Leah Evans, Emma Patterson, Nat Segal, Jordy Kidner, Jess Hotter, Aaron Blunck, Ian Morrison, Tonje Kvivik, Emily Childs, Jonathan Rollins, Max Moffatt, Cody Townsend, Brynn Johnston

What they say: “It’s been said, since time immemorial, that one of the best courses of action in life is to live in the moment. For their eighth feature-length, action and personality-packed ski movie, Blank Collective Films opts to not only adhere to that ideal but to celebrate the moment itself. From embracing vulnerability to engaging in exploration, opening your eyes and ears, and never taking oneself too seriously, Feel Real represents the past and present moments, memories and friendships that have shaped The Blank Collective into the skiers they are today.”

what we say: Am I the only one who lost it when I saw Dane Tudor’s name? Anyone who remembers his segment in Every Day Is a Saturday will share my stoke! Wonder if he still has those headphones?

IT'S THAT | Harlaut Apparel Co.

Release: November 20  harlautapparel.co

Featuring:  Isaac Simhon,  Henrik Harlaut,  Valentin Morel,  Forster Meeks,  Eirik Moberg,  Bella Bacon,  Noah Albadejo

what we say: For a relatively new company, Harlaut Apparel has a pretty stacked team! Mr Harlaut's influence might have something to do with that. This trailer shows Henrik and his protegees doing exactly what you expect. I'm pretty confident that this one was worth the wait!

A Part Of Us | Wester Sjöberg Productions

Release: Late 2022 @sofiawesters

Featuring:  Jacob and Sofia Wester

What they say: A ski film about love. A documentary and ski movie following Jacob and Sofia Wester through the Norwegian mountains during a record winter, as they chase unskied peaks and powder snow. This film takes a closer look at the fears and doubts that arise when serious danger and risk of death is ever-present. How does the newly-wed couple balance risks and rewards when everything is on the line?"

what we say: Another interesting idea for a ski movie. Sofia and Jacob may have only tied the knot last summer, but they actually met in 2007, so that’s plenty of years of worry for poor Sofia!

Gaptastic Voyage | Downdays

Release: November 2022 | downdays.eu

Featuring: Daniel Bacher, Julius Forer, Simon Geminiani, Goffi Gram, Gabriel Handle, Daniel Hanka, Sven Rauber, Dave Ressler, Hannes Rudigier, Lukas Schäfer, Edouard Therriault, Thomas Trifonitchev, Noah Wallace, David Wolf

What they say: "For decades, the Kaunertal Glacier road in Austria has been the site of legendary road-gap sessions. In 2022, we decided to add a new twist to this time-honored tradition. We called it: the Gaptastic Voyage."

what we say: Who doesn't love a road gap?! This year we're proud to present our very own short movie chronicling the Gaptastic Voyage, our tribute to the Kaunertal road gap.

Next Stop Sneg | Troublehaus

Release: Fall 2022 | @troublehaus

Featuring: Kostya San, Sven Rauber,  Grigory Korneev

What they say:  “After receiving a suspicious message on his computer screen, Sven Rauber goes on a hallucinating ski trip into a pillow-filled forest in the middle of nowhere. He finds himself in a camp alongside a beautiful river between some hills which hold some of the best snow and terrain he ever skied.”

what we say: The smooth jazz soundtrack (I’m not sure if that’s the genre actually!) and the trippy descriptions makes “Next Stop Sneg” one movie that I just don’t know what to expect from. Looking forward to finding out though!

LUKMED | Aslan Media

www.aslan-media.fr/

Featuring: Oscar Mandin, Sebastien Varlet, Nick Phaliani

What they say: "Oscar and Sébastien, two freeriders who traveled many countries together. This winter, they decided to go to Georgia, and discover its mountains and its culture. They met a local guide, Nick Phaliani. He grew up in the Mestia region, he saw the establishment of the first ski resorts ten years ago and the evolution of his village thanks to skiing and tourism. He will take them to ski incredible faces and tell the story of the Svaneti region, including the famous 'Lukmed' wooden skis."

what we say: Hands up anyone that knows much about skiing in Georgia. Me neither. It looks unspoiled and largely unexplored. Warning: This movie may cause you to book a plane ticket.

Free Rider | The North Face

@thenorthface_snow

Featuring: Sam Anthamatten, Victor De La Rue

What they say: “Victor De Le Rue (snowboard) and Sam Anthamatten (ski) push new boundaries in the wildest corner of Alaska. A bush pilot drops the small crew of five on a remote, unexplored glacier to conquer the spine walls in a series of ascents, each one more committed. Narrator Jérôme Tanon describes with honesty and a touch of sarcasm what exactly is going on here. Above all, he wants to feel what it's like to be in their shoes, to understand what so-called "free riders" are made of, and what could be the purpose and beauty of freeriding.”

what we say: This movie is meant to show us what it’s like to be Sam and Victor’s shoes, for those of us that may never get the chance to ski the virgin faces of Alaska, that’s a pretty enticing proposition!

Bon Diez | Mediappiness

@mediappiness

Featuring: Andreas Heranz, Julian Caillet, Mateo Socquet, Edouard Therriault, Maxence Gumuchian, Simo Peltola, Eleonora Ferrari, Mirco Ferrari, Mehdi Solmate, Baptiste Gaud, Ryan Stevenson, Maxime Vogt, Hugo Monmont.

What they say: “After capturing a few shots in Chamrousse in December, we decided to go to Austria to enjoy the end of the season with just #BONDIEZ in mind, just having fun with friends and making a little video as we like them. It represents us well, freewheeling, no idea in mind except to ENJOY it!”

what we say: This park-focused flick reminds me of days gone by; just a crew having fun in the park.

Making The Most Of It | Juliette Willmann

@juliette_willmann

Featuring: Juliette Willmann

What they say: “My first personal video project. It's a portrait film, retracing my life as a skier from my beginnings in the alpine until today in freeride. My years on the FWT were a big step in my career, they allowed me to get there, today I decided to take a new direction, towards high mountains and bigger projects.”

what we say: Behind the scenes look at a season on the Freeride World Tour. Juliette’s mixed results should make for an interesting story!

Cast | Forre

Now available for purchase

Featuring: Mainio Ormio, Matias Suomi, Teemu Tirkkonen, Anni Kärävä, Harald Hellström, Joona Sipola, Eemil Aro

What they say: “Cast is Forre's 2022 ski movie. 20 minutes of street skiing. No filler clips, only bangers."

what we say: They kept it short and sweet with their synopsis and, if Cast is anything like Forre's previous four movies, it should be pretty accurate. That was confirmed by when it picked up "Best Short Film" at High Five.

Brap Ski 2 | Native Earth Productions

Online nownativeearthtv.com/

Featuring: Daron Rahlves, Karl Fostvedt, Thayne Rich, Lucas Wachs, McKenna Peterson, Wingtai Barrymore, Lars Chickering-Ayers, Silas Chickering-Ayers, Hedwig Wessel, Collin Collins, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Kai Van Bueren, John Ware, Lexi Dupont, Dreyson Rahlves, Harper Mallot, Desi Sherwood, Shaun Poirot, Ridge Dirksmeier, Willy Griffith, Toby Rafford, Wyatt Minor,  Payton McElhiney

What they say: "Brap Brap!"

what we say: If you want some incredible skiing on Alaskan spines, road gaps and pillows, set to a crazy 80s/90s soundtrack, this movie is for you! Unashamedly retro and one of the funnest ways you can spend 27 minutes and 15 seconds!
