Jacob Wester | Two Years of BC Freestyle

By: Downdays November 26, 2020

Jacob Wester is without a doubt one of the most diversified talents in the freeski scene. Since moving to Chamonix six years ago, Jacob has proved his mettle in the steep-skiing realm, but still won’t be caught slacking when it comes to bringing freestyle to the BC. Two years’ worth of jump footage proves that Jacob isn’t all harnesses and ice screws—he’s still at least 50 percent capped blunts, lofty rodeos and stomped doubles.

Nowhere on Earth have I found such good terrain for building backcountry jumps like in Chamonix, France. Between the jagged peaks with its legendary freeride and steepskiing lines up high, and the dense forest below, lies a vast playground of rollers, windlips and moraines. Here, the snow stays cold and untracked during high pressure systems, a perfect place to enjoy ourselves between storms.

This is a collection of clips gathered during the 2019 and 2020 winters, stuff that either didn’t make the cut in bigger productions or that were forgotten on hard drives or posted on instagram. No jumpturns, no lines, just plain old backcountry freestyle action. Hope you will enjoy!
