Core Shots: Nick Goepper hones his halfpipe game at Kitzsteinhorn

After competing in Slopestyle in three consecutive Olympics and making the podium each time (earning two silver medals and a bronze), you might think Nick would be ready to kick back and take it easy. But no — after a very brief “retirement” last year, Nick shocked the ski world by announcing his switch to halfpipe skiing. That’s not to mention a unique yet calculated approach to his social media presence that has turned just as many heads. And then of course there’s the blue hair…

We caught up with Nick at the Superpipe Training Days on Austria’s Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, where halfpipe pros gather each fall to dial in their runs before the contest season gets underway, to see what life is like as a budding halfpipe star.
