Staying close to home is definitely “in” these days. Jochen Mesle, Max Kroneck and Joi Hoffmann were already ahead of the trend when they decided to team up with Production Company El Flamingo to create this short film in the mountains between Munich and Innsbruck last winter.

You might remember Jochen and Max from adventurous projects like full moon skiing or their ambitious transalpine ski-and-bike journey “Ice & Palms” from a few years back. This time around, they decided to link up with Innsbruck native Joi Hoffmann on a mission not far from their doorsteps.

At first glance, “A Few Steps From Home” might seem like your standard hut-trip yawn-fest; great times if you happened to be there, but not necessarily amazing viewing material. However, the squad bucks the trend on this one with a solid offering of quality shredding, great conditions and terrain, and refreshingly fast pacing. A hut trip close to home has rarely looked so appealing.
